CALFENAC GEL
Aceclofenac 1.5%w/w , Oleum Lini 3 %w/w, Methyl Salicylate 10%w/w, Menthol 5%w/w & Capsaicin .01%w/w in a Gel Base.
Aceclofenac: Aceclofenac is a phenylacetic acid derivative with effects on a variety of inflammatory mediators. It is from the class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), related to diclofenac. Through its analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, aceclofenac provides symptomatic relief in a variety of painful conditions.

Oleum Lini :
Alpha Linolenic Acid (ALA/ Oleum Lini) is an 18-carbon polyunsaturated fatty acid with three double bonds. It is also called an omega-3 fatty acid, it decreases the risk of thrombosis (blood clot formation), improves vascular & endothelial function decreasing inflammation.
Methyl Salicylate: Methyl salicylate (oil of wintergreen or wintergreen oil)
is an organic ester that is naturally produced by many species of plants. Some of the plants which produce it are called wintergreens, hence the common name as a rubefacient in deep heating liniments to treat joint and muscular pain. Randomised double blind trial reviews report evidence of its effectiveness that is weak, but stronger for acute pain than chronic pain, and that effectiveness may be due entirely to counter-irritation.
Menthol :
Menthol is an organic compound made synthetically or obtained from cornmint, peppermint or other mint oils.Menthol has local anesthetic and counterirritant qualities.
Capsaicin :
Capsaicin is currently used in topical ointments, nasal sprays as well as a high-dose dermal patch to relieve the pain of peripheral neuropathy such as post-herpetic neuralgia caused by shingles.

It is used as a cream for the temporary relief of minor aches and pains of muscles and joints associated with arthritis, simple backache, strains and sprains, often in compounds with other rubefacients.
Indications
Calfenac Gel is indicated for a variety of conditions characterized by pain and inflammation such as osteoarthritis, post-traumatic or acute musculoskeletal disorders including bursitis, tendinitis, fibrositis, tenosynovitis, periarthritis, sprains, strains and low back pain.
Dosage and Administration
Gently rub a small amount of gel onto the skin around the painful and swollen area three or four times daily. The amount of gel needed will vary depending upon the size of the inflamed area.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the formulation. The drug is contraindicated in patients in whom aspirin and other NSAIDs induce symptoms of asthma, rhinitis, angioedema or urticaria. |
